Description

A delicious and crispy honey garlic tofu recipe that’s easy to make and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 oz (400 g) firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your tofu. Wrap it in a clean towel, set something heavy on top, and let it rest for about 15 minutes to achieve crispiness.
  2. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. Toss them gently in cornstarch until each piece is lightly coated.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the tofu cubes in a single layer and let them cook undisturbed for a few minutes. Flip them to form a golden crust on all sides.
  4. While the tofu cooks, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, water, sesame oil, and grated ginger in a small bowl.
  5. Once the tofu is crispy, lower the heat and pour the sauce into the pan. Stir gently to coat each piece.
  6. Let everything simmer for another minute or two until the tofu is fully coated and the sauce has reduced just enough. Finish with green onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve immediately while it’s warm and perfectly crisp.

Notes

  • Pressing the tofu properly makes all the difference for a crisp texture.
