Description

Delicious Christmas cookies topped with festive sprinkles and cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cake batter flavoring or vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup Christmas sprinkles
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cake batter flavoring or vanilla extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs and flavoring.
  4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together. Add to wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in sprinkles.
  5. Scoop 1/4 to 1/3 cup dough per cookie. Place 6 cookies per sheet. Roll into balls and flatten slightly.
  6. Bake 13–15 minutes, until cookies look set and tops are no longer glossy.
  7. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
  8. Make frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and salt. Mix until creamy. Adjust with more sugar for stiffness or a little milk for thinner consistency.
  9. Pipe or spread frosting onto cooled cookies in a spiral design.
  10. Add sprinkles on top and let frosting set before serving.
