Description

A delightful relish made with sweet onions, figs, and fresh oranges, perfect for serving with meats or as a flavorful condiment.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sweet onions, finely chopped
  • 1 cup dried figs, diced
  • 1 cup fresh oranges (about 2), juiced and zested
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by chopping the sweet onions and dicing the figs. Zest and juice the oranges.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, drizzle olive oil and sauté the onions until golden brown (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Add the figs to the pan and cook for another couple of minutes.
  4. Pour in orange juice and vinegar, then add brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir well to combine.
  5. Bring to a simmer over low heat for about 20-25 minutes until thickened.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before transferring to jars or serving dishes.
